AI Art is Here and the World is Already Different- John Herrman

This article gives an interesting perspective on AI Art. The article describes how AI art is accessible, cheap, and gives you the power to create images at a fast rate. Midjourney, for example, has a certain style to its images which might make it easily recognized to people that have used the program. People are able to win art contests with AI art. The illustrator Gila Von Meissner, who uses generated images along with her own art. She asks the question “Does that make my work less original?” There are also still errors with AI art. Using the correct prompts can produce the “right kind of result” but any misinterpreted word can create something entirely different. I think there are both positives and negatives to AI art. On one hand, it has created a community interested in AI art such as with Midjourney. It allows anyone to create images of art with a computer. It helps inspire artists that need to be constantly producing images on a daily basis. On the other side of things, people are someone who might be taking advantage of it. Such as the Colorado artist who entered a generated fine-contest. I do think it feels somewhat wrong that it's such an easy process to create an artwork vs the people who went through the entire process of creating artwork. But at the same time, art doesn’t have a timeline that makes it worse or better.
