Artist Statement for Build A Beast

In this project for my creature I chose to create a cat-cupcake. The goal was to create a cat with a body of a cupcake. This was extremely challenging partially due to trying to put together the cat and cupcake together but also due to trying to figure out how to create these objects. I think it turned out kinda comical due to the boxy-ness of the cat and the roundness of the cupcake. I built the cupcake after the cat and I think the improvement between the first object and the second is evident. I also probably could’ve gotten rid of any evidence of the cat body and made its body entirely cupcake. I tried to add stripes and I think they just add to the character of the cat. I managed to get the cat to walking normally except for in the video the distance doesn’t match with how the cat is moving so it appears to be gliding. I think I can go back and easily fix that.
