In the article 'The Most Expensive Gif of All Time,' I found it interesting that the gif is replicating a real-life sculpture by Jeff Koons. Since the article has been made, there has been more money made with online art with the rise of NFTs, and other digital pieces being purchased. The artist, Michael Green, decided that since his artwork was honoring the famous sculpture he should increase the price which seems like he's almost mocking the price of the sculpture. At the time, Jeff Koons' sculpture was was sold as the most expensive artwork at an auction even though the artist had people made it for him. The fact that Green's artwork is animated to have the statement of destroying the tradition of modern art. Since GIFS have been made popular in the last decade or so but is interesting to see the transition from selling GIFs back in 2014 to NFTs now in 2022. Also since the article is somewhat dated, it mentions how Tumblr is a gallery space for GIFs. Since then, that app is almost disappeared from the well-known social media so its not very relevant anymore. But now gallery space for digital art has grown more in where digital art is shown and even the space available for digital art. It is also claimed that modern art has exhaused it's own frame postmodern maximalist expression is left. There is new inspiration found in the medium which could be GIFS.
